The Eugen Kolisko Academy
An holistic treatment plan and diagnosis is required for a doctor taking into consideration the human being as consisting of a physical, soul, and spiritual nature. Anthroposophical Medicine seeks to impart and put into practice these essential requirements for the health of the human being.
The Eugen Kolisko Academy offers a scientific and artistic foundation course suitable for doctors, medical students, pharmacologists, nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists and pedagogics, focusing on Anthroposophical medicine and the methodological expertise necessary for working with patients and for supporting their health. This is followed by advanced seminars, practical training, and clinic weekends that can be attended while working.

Anthroposophical Medicine
Anthroposophical medicine is practiced in 15 hospitals and by over a thousand doctors in outpatient services in Europe. In addition to the growing demand, anthroposophical medicine has also become a path for many who want to become medical doctors. The anthroposophical doctor strives to become a researcher, one who through an in-depth understanding of the human being and nature can arrive at the appropriate remedy during the meeting with the patient. The trust that a patient brings when meeting a doctor can support one’s care for the patient and the desire to find a cure. The profession can become a path of inner schooling for one’s own self-development, the fruits of which can be experienced in the meeting with patients.

Instead of becoming a tool by which externally determined standards are measured, the anthroposophical doctor would like to expand and deepen his or her scientific studies. The anthroposophical doctor strives to become a researcher, one who through an in-depth understanding of the human being and nature can arrive at the the appropriate remedy during the meeting with the patient. The Rubicon of the 9th – 10th year as a threshold experience for the child. As civilization becomes more and more estranged from real life, it will become harder for children to incarnate in a healthy manner. Around the 9th-10th year, which are the Rubicon years, the child is especially reliant on the loving attention and understanding of the adult. In order to provide effective help for children at this age, it is is necessary for teachers, pediatricians, school doctors and therapists to have an exact understanding of what the child is experiencing. This workshop will follow on a daily basis the path of transformation experienced by the child. The sculptural-musical understanding of the human being will allow the student to experience the transformation of the child´s soul from instinctive imitation toward a loving integrated experience with the adult. The medical, pedagogical and psychology lectures will be followed by an in depth discussion based on participants questions.
Child Sexual Abuse. The study of the human being also provides the background for the understanding of child sexual abuse. With the help of experts Jochen Weidenbusch and Annette Junge-Schepermann, we will examine the ways to help children in need.

The Eugen Kolisko Academy
Thomas McKeen (1953 – 1993) was an internal medicine specialist and senior physician at the Filderklinik in Stuttgart and was also a teacher of anthroposophical medicine. In 1987, Thomas McKeen founded the anthroposophical doctors seminar with support from the Board of the Anthroposophical Doctors Association in Germany and the then director of the Internal Medicine Department at the Filderklinik, Dr. med. Jürgen Schürholz, and the Association of Anthroposophical Clinics in Germany. These two groups as well as the Academy Directorship are members of the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland. Later, this seminar was renamed the Eugen Kolisko Academy. Dr. Eugen Kolisko was an anthroposophical doctor and scientist (1893 – 1939).
Over the years, former participants of the seminar who had felt a strong connection with the work of the Seminar formed a fundraising association that has also helped to support the seminar.
