The Stuttgart Theater Academy
The Stuttgart Theater Academy is a private vocational college offering studies in acting, theater pedagogy, and creative speech. The training is geared toward young people from all over the world who not only enjoy speech and theater but also have the desire and courage to bring about change in themselves.
In addition to acquiring professional competencies, training objectives include: personality development, self perception, adaptability, team spirit, empathy and assertiveness.

Course of Studies
The 3 training programs take place over 4 years and the qualifications are state recognized. In addition, the Theater Pedagogy qualification is recognised by the Federal Association of Theater Pedagogy (BuT), and the Acting Qualification is recognised by the ZAV in Stuttgart. Following the foundation year, students undertaking a combination of study courses can also obtain a multiple qualification (e.g., Acting / Theater Pedagogy).
Each course of study begins with a foundational drama training that provides the opportunity for career orientation. This training provides the following prerequisite for all three courses: the conscious understanding of one’s own body and speech. The foundation year is followed by an in-depth 3 year specialist training. Each course of study consists of a vocational placement of at least 4 weeks.
QUALIFICATION| State recognized Actor/ess and Theater Pedagogic, certified speech artist.
DURATION| 1 Year Foundation Studies: 3 Year Specialized Training
PREREQUISITES| Aged 17 to 30 (exceptions decided upon by college board), secondary school qualification (exceptions that include lower qualifications decided upon by college board), appropriate level of spoken German.Acting
Acting techniques for theater and film, bodywork, voice development and elocution, personality development.
QUALIFICATION | State recognized Actor/ess, can be supplemented through the ZAV (Central Agency for Foreign and Subject Affairs) examination.Theater Pedagogy
In addition to theater pedagogical competencies, each student also receives a foundation training in acting, body, and voice.
GRADUATION | State recognized Theater Pedagogic (BuT)Creative Speech
Speech as the expression of an inner picture and soul process. Development of Permeability and Expressibility of the voice. Speech as an artistic means of expression in epic poetry, lyric, and prose. Speech as a pedagogical / social-pedagogical / therapeutic instrument.
